I hope you do jump in and join our egg exchange. I guess you know if you do not want a pair of Gouldians to bond - don't let them see each other... even across the room ("they say"). Great bunch of birds you have there!cartel wrote:Thanks Janine and Liz, i just might jump in when the time is right as i also have birds to prove themselvesL in Ontario wrote:Most definitely NOT leaving you out Craig (hope I spelled it right)! Just waiting for you to jump in when the time is right. Janine and I can't do anything anyway until our birds prove themselves - Janine's Gouldians and my Shaftails.cartel wrote:Great looking pair you have Liz.One question how come come you guys left me out of the egg exchange![]()

I've been quietly collected cages on the side too - split an order with my daughter and bought some off Mike when he was selling his. I've just relocated all the cages in 2/3's of my birdroom, with my daughter's help (which accounts for 6 breeding cages, 3 flights and 1 double flight now and 4 parrot cages).FeatherHarp wrote:My gosh Liz...with all your new birds how do you find time to post on FinchForum...lol! You should move the computer right into your bird room....that would be the best of both worlds!![]()
You are collecting more birds...I am just collecting more cages....we need to get together!![]()
I guess I should sign my signature:

My female shaftail does not look good yesterday or today. She's all fluffed up and being quiet.

Not the best actually. She spent part of the night on the floor. This morning she ate and then went back up to her perch to sleep. (sigh) He keeps singing and singing or calling. He's in the same quarantine cage with her and he looks and acts normal. She is fluffed all the time now.FeatherHarp wrote:Liz.....how is your Shafttale doing today?
If she does not improve by Tuesday (after Labour Day), I'll call Casey and ask for a replacement hen. Doesn't look good the way she is now, but thank you for asking.

Thank you Donna, I'm not sure if he had more hens. I know he had more male normals but I wasn't really looking at normal hens as I had thought the Creamino was a hen. duh.dfcauley wrote:Sorry to hear this Liz. I hope she can recover. Did he have some more hens?
I know some birds have a rough time making the move - I hope that's all this is since he still seems in perfect health, and that she recovers quickly.

The female Shaftail died this morning. The poor male is calling and calling - I feel bad for him. I'll contact Casey tomorrow.

Thank you, Craig. I called Casey and while others are there today - Casey isn't due to the holiday. He'll be in tomorrow. She is in the freezer.
I feel badly for the male.

So sorry for your loss, Liz. It's always hard, something we never get used to. It seems the hen may have been sick already when you bought her, and the move just made it worse.

So sorry! I hate hearing that a bird dies. Finches can be so hardy but yet so fragile. We give them everything they require , and then some. And most the time we don't even know why they perished.

So sorry for your loss Liz.
Hopefully Casey will be able to find you another hen. I still can't be certain, but out of my 4 babies I believe that only one is a hen, the other 3 have already started to sing.
