How are your babies doing? How old are they now? I think we need a picture!! =D>

They are now 2 months old. These are the latest taken on Saturday, from front to back baby, mommy, baby, daddy. BTW mom and dad started sitting today, so I won;t be seeing much of them for the next 2 weeks...

Quick question, is $40 asking too much for them.

Too cute! I paid $60 for the normal hen and $90 for the Creamino male. Course that was from a petshop... If I ever get babies, I'd probably ask ~$50 for normals and more for Creaminos. Thanks for the pics!!

You paid a good price, out here in the pet shops I have not seen any creams and the normals are going for $89 each.. So I figured that I would ask half the price, and sell them privately.

You could check out the prices others are asking privately - ie Kijiji and other selling spots in your area. Then just price yours maybe $5 or $10 less than them. You shouldn't have to go too low as long as there are buyers around for them.

Hi Liz! I was just checking up on this post and was wondering if you got in contact with the right person and are getting a new female?

I just got off the phone with Casy a little while ago. He doesn't have any more Shaftail hens right now. He said he would contact his supplier in Montreal and that I should call him again on Thursday.

If he doesn't have any leads on Thursday, I will ask him for a refund and see what he says... :(

I just found an ad on Kijiji for a town close to my daughter - a guy is selling Shaftails for $30 each and seems to have quite a few! I have already enquired and will see if he has a female available this weekend since I have to go that area to sell 4 of my Gouldians anyway. =D>

If this doesn't work and if Casy isn't able to get any - I may buy one from Janine. =D>

You do realize that "Janine" would be honoured to know that one of her flock ended up with you. :D 8) Of course we have to make a trade: Let's see now.....1 shaftail + 5 zebras for a pair of gouldians.  Just kidding.  For you it would be half price.

I spoke with Casy this morning and while he said his supplier in Quebec does have some females - he is not coming to this area anytime soon. Casy asked me what I wanted to do and I said at this time I would look for a Shaftail hen on my own but that I would appreciate an in-store credit for her full price. He agreed to that without hesitation. =D>

I have not heard back from the Kijiji ad and I will persue that one a little more.

The male Creamino Shaftail is doing fine - just not singing whatsoever. Casy asked how he was doing.

Now that is good customer service. Even though Casey probably had no idea the hen was sick when he sold her, he realizes that she must have been, and so has taken responsibility for taking care of his customer--kudos.

I can't wait to see the pictures. Do they look like the white one I have?

I have three eggs from her (Carmella) that should hatch this weekend. They are under society finches. She laid them and left..... They are all fertile. I am hoping to get a white hen from them.
Donna - This was posted a few weeks ago. I'm just wondering what happened to those fertile eggs. Did you put them under your Socs or did they get tossed?

Liz,

Those two eggs did not work out... then she went on to lay four more. She again sat alone with no help from the cock. I took them, put them under the society finches. They went on to hatch them and fed them for about a week and stopped.

What is up with that? My society finches have never done that.

So now I have her and him both in a large breeding cage hoping they will figure it out. :?

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that Donna! :( Are they a young / inexperienced pair?
