Awesome....Amazing...Wonderful....So well planned out!

Did I say Awesome?

Now I have some questions for you Candace.

How will your daily routine go? When you get all your birds in there.....how many hours each day will it take you to feed and clean? I am just trying to comprehend the amount of work it will be for you...chaning out water and seed and papers and poop removal and...and OMG.....you will need some help!

I will be there in two days...is that soon enough??

Too funny, Come on down Deborah and Renee :!:
Actually I built this aviary to spread out my others. Not all my birds will go in this one. I don't plan on getting any more birds...just concentrate on the few breeds that I am studying :D
I plan on having at least 2 pair of goldbreast in each of the large aviaries.
1 pair of parrot finches...maybe 2 (if the seagreens will not switch partners with the pieds...we will see
a few pair of gouldians (I have never colony breed them) I may use it to let the young gouldians grow out and color out.......not sure yet

This way I can easily breed several unrelated pairs (nescasary for the goldbreast)
So I should actually have less cages or at least the same amount......

I will be posting pics of the cage room and the 2 downstairs aviary once I have the birds sorted. They are a holding place for them now.
I don't think my morning routine will be any more work....just more enjoyable in the cozy Bird House :D Also a place to sit and just enjoy and learn :D

Just go to the thread you want them to see. When you are looking at the page, just go up to the top of the screen where the address bar is. That is unique to that page and thread. Copy and paste that crazy string into any post, email, pm and you are all set with a clickable link to that thread.
Goulds, Owls, Gold Breasts, Stars, Zebras, Societies
An obscene number of chicks and eggs
And an incredibly rare St. Goldena Breast finch
Anyone want some finches???

Candace,
That is just fabulous. I don't know how I missed that thread. Wonderful accomplishment and amazing bird house. You and hubby 'did good'. I am so impressed. I'm agonizing over how to make ONE bird room and you did a whole house  You are my imspiration! You go girl! =D> =D> =D> =D>

Very nice Candace...I noticed lots of empty cages. What are you going to fill those up with?????

Candace, since your birds are free flighted in some of the rooms, how do you clean the floors? Do you use diluted vinegar?

Cindy,
I have added even more cages since then and have filled many. In this room I keep only red throated parrot finches. I have 3 flights with breeding pairs and the pair in the rose aviary with 3 chicks :D
Image
Image
On this wall I have 1 finch chick per cage coloring out..I seperate them so that I can identify the song and sex them. Some are developing some rich red heads...if you look closely
Image
On this wall I have 3 cages with chicks growing out and two more 30' cages waiting. Also two racks of 24" cages for more youngsters or for splitting and resting pairs.
Image
I have added a 36" flight amd two 30" grow out cages(stacked to the center of the room for even more young :D I like to plan ahead...now I just need to put the trays in, seed cups, waterers, perches, limbs and YOUNG PARROT FINCHES  ....
Image
Image
I was going to buy some other birds but then decided I had better save the space for my young so they would not have crowded conditions. I have had 13 parrot finch chicks and 52 gouldian chicks so far this summer.... You should see the gouldian room

Pukasand,
Thanks. The hard work has been worth seeing the birds enjoy it. I like to give them as much room as possible to spread their wings

Candace, the taller flight cages (black) did you get those from Country Feathers also? Those would be ideal for young.

Ok, you did a "head count" so now tell us just how many cages do you have? I am amazed by your set up, you have it so organized and set up very nicely.
