You have other finches, they are pretty easy to care for. They might need a few different supplements then some other finches, but basically the same care as any other finch. They are such beautiful birds, you'll fall in love :)

I just an email, one of the rescue workers is adopting them. This is the case sometimes, you get an animal into rescue and one of the members takes it home...the important thing is they are going to be given a home and taken care of.

There was a guy on Kijiji that was selling shaftails for $18 each, he had 10 of them. They are gone also. Bummer...

Sorry Cindy :( Sounds like they are going to a good home though. I bet it's the person that wrote the ad about them. It was a caring and informative description :) There will be other ads, other birds.

"pair of bonded Red Headed Gouldian Finches"

They are both males! And one is OH :\
Probably a good thing they weren't available.. didn't really seem the poster knew much about what they were selling.
Society finches are not "man made" :\
They are just domesticated versions of White Rumped Mannikins..

Thanks...I haven't been checking the ads or Petfinder much lately. I guess I should. $18 dollars was a great price for Shaftails, no wonder they went fast.

I don't mind paying for birds but if you can adopt them that is great. I like to think that the pet you adopt has a story, it gets a second chance at happiness and a good life.
