The Stars accepted the 'new comers' fairly easily. I put one in then an hour later I added the second one. The father really checked them out but never chased or harrassed them at all now they all perch and eat together at times. Thank goodness! =D>

Beautiful babies! Stars usually get along in a group setting, they are pretty peaceful birds.

Were they fostered? I'm not sure what you meant by being put back with their parents? :)

How long does it usually take the babies to get their colors? They look pretty similar to Gould babies :)

Yes these two were fostered as my Stars never sit on their eggs. They do look somewhat similar to Gouldian babies except there are no nodules by their mouths.

Thanks Donna. I wish my Stars would produce babies too - but they only produce eggs! Which is good (don't get me wrong) but I WISH they would SIT.

I was going to get stars but could only find males. There is an upcoming show in October, maybe I will be able to find a pair.

The babies are such a soft beige cream color, very pretty.

Those chicks look fantastic. Stars look nothing like their parents in their juvenile plumage.

Is that female a yellow? I read somewhere that you mistakenly gave away all of your yellow males and kept the females only to find that it's the males that can pass on the yellow gene and that the females can't. I'm very desperate to find a yellow male....the search will just have to continue.. :D

Thanks Domenic. The hen is yellow yes. I've gotten a red split to yellow male from this pair previously and am hoping for a yellow and a red split again now but won't know for a couple of months yet.

I think you've gotten me confused with Sally - I think it was Sally who mistakenly sold off her red split males...?

Yes, I was the one who sold all the males and kept all the females. #-o There is a woman in this area who has gotten two yf males, and she has offered one of them to me. So this weekend, my little yf hen will have a future mate. I'll have to wait till her two babies are weaned, but by the time he is out of quarantine, she should be free as a bird, as they say! So I should be able to get some yellow babies!!

Oh, haha it was Sally. But at least you found a yellow faced male now. How much is the woman asking for it?
