I am asking because I am taking a pair of finches to my classroom at school and I really want a seed guard more than anything else.....
A bassinet sheet or changing table pad cover may work, depends on the size of the cage. I considered the mesh seed guards but was afraid they would catch their nails on it.

What size cage are you going to use? I have seen fabric seed guards on line, if you like I can see if I can find the site for you.

It is a 32 in breeding cage. I got a crib sheet today, but it is WAY too big.

I think I will take it back tomorrow and try a crib sheet.

The only thing I found with the crib sheet is it can go around the bottom and up the back and over part of the top. The sides need to rolled in a bit. The bassinet size may work a little better.

The other alternative is to make a long tube out of fabric the whole size of your cage all the way around, adding about an extra foot. make a stich on the top and bottom along the length of your fabric tube (a little bit bigger than the elastic you are using. Then thread elastic (like for pants) the size of your cage plus 2 inches through both pockets you created. Stich the ends together and ta da ....seed guard. You may have to play with the measurement but this way you can pick the fabric and maybe change the print for seasons!!!! You could make a matching cover...ok i'm going into business!!!!
