Judah, New Fledglings, and new Blue Caps!

Post by Domenic » Mon Oct 19, 2009 4:23 am

As promised, here is Judah, Carl's replacement gouldian. Carl was a dilute, which is ironic because Judah has one of the darkest backs I've ever seen on a normal. It was impossible to get a good picture of him, so one almost good pic will have to do. :D If I get a video I'll show you guys.

Also included are pics of my very first zebra fledglings Plum (normal) and Apricot (fawn) that are from my zebra pair Peach and Pumpkin.

And last but not least a gorgeous pair of Blue capped cordon bleus that I picked up at a bird show today for only $80. I got best pick of the cage (which had around thirty Blue caps in it!). The vendor told me every single bird in the CB cage was unrelated. I don't know how that's possible but he seemed sincere and his business seemed pretty large, so I trust they are unrelated. There's a video as well as a picture.

Beautiful BCCB. Their blue is a deep blue, very lovely. Congratulations. I love our RCCB. Enjoy them. Wait until the male sings for you!!!

I love the picture of the baby asleep in the food cup, it is like a child failing asleep at the table. To cute!

Good luck with Judah.

I just love young fledglings...your societies look great and adorable.
The gouldian is very pretty. There is a modification in colors called the "dark factor" check out this web site...interesting

Nice looking CBs..... they look so soft, almost like a plush stuffed animal. Love the pics...and video..

Thanks guys. Candace I took a look at that link you gave me for the dark factors and you nailed it right on the head. I am convinced Judah is a single dark factor. I went to the bird mart yesterday and I saw how light the normal gouldians were and I knew that something was different about Judah, but I got nervous because I know that melanistic gouldians get very dark from lack of light or nutrition, and I thought this had happened with Judah. But apparently he is a single dark factor, and I am extremely happy with him now because he is different from the everyday gouldian. Thanks Candace, I never would have known!

Very pretty birds! Can I make a suggestion? Is that their permanent cage? If so, get some natural branchs and turn them the other way so they have
enough room to fly some. Your courdons are beautiful!!

Thanks! And no the Cordons and Judah are both in quarantine cages right now. Once they are done I will hopefully be moving them into an aviary.

Hoping this thread is not lost. I moved 1 posting to a separate new thread under Introductions. See "Hello from Germany!"

Whew - that was close! Glad this is still here... carry on!
