Blue Cap Dancing

Post by Domenic » Wed Oct 21, 2009 10:12 pm

My male blue cap has been dancing all the time with a piece of cocofiber in his mouth for the past three days. The female isn't dancing though, and both haven't even gone in the nest as far as I know. Do CB's just dance all the time or only when they want to breed?

CBs will dance with a piece of nesting material in their beak as part of the courting ritual, but this can go on for weeks, and sometimes the hen just isn't interested. Or sometimes the hens will dance, too.

I love the CB's dance.... It reminds me of a very excited kid on a rocking horse :D Sometimes it takes a while before he can impress the lady...

This brings up a more interesting question... why are women so difficult to please?
Goulds, Owls, Gold Breasts, Stars, Zebras, Societies
An obscene number of chicks and eggs
And an incredibly rare St. Goldena Breast finch
Anyone want some finches???
