I have to keep reminding myself to back the camera away from the nest and then take the shot. I crop it closer with Photoshop. Try that and see if it helps, Natalie. (PS - nice to see your name) [-o<

I feel like this is a silly question, but can I see what the adult white zebs look like? Are they pure white, or do they still have the rump/flank/cheek/tear markings?

It's funny - I tried a pair of Zebs once hoping I could use them to foster and avoid the issues of disease in Socs but a) I could never get them interested in a nest and b) they were extremely aggressive towards one another and towards the goulds ... so bye bye went the Zebs! :\

Aww you need to try a fresh pair, Tiff!

Off topic and rambling...
These parents and another pair I have set up are the exact same colour combination with one (possibly large) difference -

Both males are pure white - no markings of any kind anywhere, and both are considered SOLD so I am trying to get more White babies before I hand them over to their new owner in January. That should be enough time for a clutch or two.

Anyway, both hens are fawns and look identical. Except the mother of this clutch is the large English Zebra size and is a baby I bred from a large English sized fawn hen and a different white cock (which was sold 6 weeks ago). I was thinking perhaps my large fawn 'baby' would be split for white since her daddy was white. Well looks like that may be the case since there is one white hatchling in this clutch (so far).

The other fawn hen (which is paired up with the other white cock) is a new hen I just got and is much much smaller in size.

If you're still with me - the last pic below is the parents of my 'baby' large English sized fawn hen. The white male was sold a while ago.

The second picture is the two newest white males which I now have paired up - one with my large 'baby' and one with a much smaller but identical coloured hen.

Now I thought it might be interesting to pair up another Zebra cock I have which is pied (first pic). I have another 'baby' large size fawn hen (sibling to the mother of this clutch). If she is split to white then I wonder what they would produce...?

Anyway - I really think you should give (new) Zebs another chance, Tiffany! They are truely very sweet birds!

I actually wouldn't mind trying a pair of show zebs once we move into our new townhome (likely moving to Maryland by the end of the month).

Before I started showing the only zebs I'd ever seen were the generic pet store ones.
The first time I saw the big honkin english zebs I thought they were just soooo adorable :) Big beefy lookin things, and I adore the CFWs, Florida Fancies, and the Fawns..

Do you have any photos of your White Zebs?

Just the three white males above - they're the only white Zebs I have and had... besides the new hatchling.

Big beefy honking Zebs - that's accurate!! =D>

I agree with Liz - the Zeebs are the cutest and the sweetest handfeds. But they are fun all on their own too.

Liz - these babies are precious!!! =D> :D

If you really want the big english kind Tiffany - I have extra pairs that came from Raz.

Oh Tiffany, Got PLENTY of Zebra hens if you want to "experiment". Even got a couple of CFW, Fawn, and fawn pied hens. (two of which are Fawn CCFW) Not any solid whites right now, but our guys are working on that  I don't think they are pure english but some of them are nice sized (Came from our big mama CFW, Rhosyn)

In all honesty most of the hens are very matronly, We had one that when she went to the pet store, they got her to foster a baby society that was blind in one eye and she took to him immediately. She was probably only 3 months old at the time.

We have another pair of hens right now that have been helping to raise their cousins. We have two couples together in a cage and the two hens from the older clutch have been helping with the other couple's babies, a clutch of six.

Also one of our older hens (Miss Ash) we refer to as everybody's nanny. She's bounced around in a couple cages and wherever she was she helped with somebody's kids. Finally were able to get her paired up with a male and now she's busy raising her very first clutch.

So just say the word and we can hook you up. :)

We'll see - I keep going back and forth on the idea of getting CBs.. and the biggest thing holding me back right now is my space.
When/if I move, I will have a complete finished basement along with three bedrooms
So I will have plenty of room to get a few more stacks of breeder cages and maybe con Eric into building me a couple larger walk-in flights in the basement.. =P~ =P~

It's my brother's old townhome (his in-laws bought it from them as a real estate venture basically) and they are totally supportive of the zoo, so it won't be an issue to expand, which is nice ;)
