UPDATE 11/14 - Photos of the new Green Singing Finches

Post by Animal Quackers » Mon Nov 09, 2009 2:56 pm

I "introduced" them in a late post to my original introduction titled "Hello from Massachusetts." The photos are pretty bad, but you will get the idea. I phoned the breeder and she said they are NOT related (thank goodness!), so I will just leave the nest in there with them and let nature take (or not!) its course!

They are sure fun to watch and so delightful to listen to!

OK - I am off to bring home the lone Society at our local pet shop!

You will enjoy them. I love watching mine, so active and they like to hang upside down from the top of their cage!!! Mine will eat anything I put in the cage. Hop right on it as soon as my hand is out the door!!! LOL

I think you're going to like these birds. Green Singers are interesting finches to watch. If you have the patience you can make them somewhat tame. Some times I take a small piece of lettuce and show it to the male and he comes to eat it out of my hand. They do like lettuce and apples. But the best thing about having a male Singer is its very pleasing song as you may already know. Only thing is with the female being in the same cage with the male it usually means a lot less singing.

Great pics, your husband is talented! I am too afraid to get a hen for my green singer because I don't want him to become aggressive to my other finches. Plus his song is so beautiful I don't want to stop singing when he finds a hen. I know, that's so selfish of me.

Very nice looking birds. Something I find very attractive about Green Singers, both looks and personality. I don't think I'd ever get rid of mine.

Soooo pretty! I always see Green Singers at Petsmart but they want too much money for their finches and they always look have dead or diseased!

Thank you all for your kind replies!

Domenic - I can tell you that this little male Green Singer sings up a STORM! I do not think being with a hen is stopping him from singing! The batteries in my camera are dead at the moment, but as soon as I get new ones, I will make a movie of him singing...you will get the idea!

Thank you all again!

They are beautiful :)

I had a pair and I only heard the male sing a few times. A beautiful song. :D The female died a year later and I still didn't hear him sing then but a few times. Do they really sing all the time?

The Grenadiers have a pretty little song too.
