Liquid kelp?

Post by SamFoy » Sun Nov 08, 2009 7:05 pm

Can liquid kelp go bad? I bought some a few years ago, used it a few times and put it up. I'm thinking of doing a regiment of liquid kelp, liquid calcium, and apple cider vinegar in some kind of order?

Sorry, I have never used the liquid kelp. Did you store it in the refrigerator? How long are you talking about" I would imagine like most products of that nature is that it would loose some of it's potency and vitamins would break down after a while. Depends on the heat and how long.

Or contact the manufacturer and ask them what the shelf-life is.

Hi Lu - I'd love to know what kind of birds you have. And you give liquid kelp everyday? Is that the same thing as liquid Iodine? And ACV as well? I only give liquid Iodine once a week to my Australian finches. Do introduce yourself over in the Introductions forum and give us the lowdown on your fids, diets and setup. The curious would love to know. =D>

Hi, Liquid kelp is basically the same as liquid iodine, yes I do add it to their water along with acv. It is given to help eliminate bad bacteria in their water. The acv (braggs organic) has many nutrients in it.here is a good read on acv google "a guide to a naturally healthy bird" by Alicia McWaters
1 tablespoon of acv to 1 gallon of water, 4 drops of liquid kelp to 1 gallon of water
I also have been giving acv to my racing pigeons through out the breeding season for many years.

Good to know, Lu - thanks!

I;ve only used ACV in the water to soak my soakseed (for 24 hours). Then I rinse the soakseed really well and mix it with my eggfood. Finches love it everyday.
