In my state Ctaig's list is for rehoming pets with a small rehoming fee. You are allowed to advertize and sell pets
So this may or may not be a viable outlet for your offsprings.

I'm sure you meant NOT allowed, Candace.CandoAviary wrote:In my state Ctaig's list is for rehoming pets with a small rehoming fee. You are allowed to advertize and sell petsSo this may or may not be a viable outlet for your offsprings.

In my area, vendor tables at bird mart usually go for $35 to $50 for an 8' table, and I've read other areas that charge as much as $75-80 for a table. If you have just a few birds to sell, it may not be worth it. Most marts allow up to two vendors per table, so that is what some people do--go together with another person to share a table and costs.

Sally,
I wish I had known you had Stars or were looking for a Orange Face Star male... I just traded mine to Floyd because I couldn't find him a OF female.
I could have saved him for the party in Dec for you... They are beautiful and good luck with yours

Opps... That is exactly what I meant Sally. Didn't proof read that one. I try not to bend the rules on sites. And anyway there are so many other sites that are better to target bird people and they are free.
Just google bird classifieds and many different sites will come up that offer free listings. And the nice thing about these is it has bird people looking so if they contact you , you know they want what you have.... and probably have a clue as to how to take care of it.

Craigslist does only allow a rehoming fee, so when you sell your birds just label the price as a rehoming fee. The reason I find craigslist the best is because it gets the most visitors. Hoobly and Kijiji could take weeks to sell your birds, at least from my experience with those sites.

Thanks for the thought anyway, Misty. I have been looking for a YF male, and every time I thought I had one, something would happen and it wouldn't work out. So when a friend contacted me with one she actually had, I jumped at the chance. If we can both have breeding success, we can swap babies, as none of the birds involved are related.MLaRue wrote:Sally,

Re: Yellow Star Finches-picture!!!
Is the yellow star and the yellow face star the same bird? Or are they different?
The male pied I bought this weekend at the bird fair has a beautiful yellow collar around his neck & a few yellow feathers on his wing. What do you suppose will be the outcome breeding him to a normal female. (I am genetically challenged
) I was unable to get a pied female at the fair. The breeder only had males.

I think people use Yellow Star and Yellow-faced Star for the same bird. Can you post a photo of your new Star? Or have you already and I missed it?JohnBoy wrote:Is the yellow star and the yellow face star the same bird? Or are they different?

Oops, yes I saw that picture. Meant to comment on it at the time, as he has one of the nicest red masks I've seen--very large and very dark red--gorgeous. It will be interesting to see if he passes on that mask to his babies. So I would definitely call him a Red-faced Star--you'll have to see if the yellow is a mutation. I've seen Isabel Stars, in fact have had them, and heard of Cinnamon Stars. A friend recently acquired a Yellow-faced Star that has the brightest yellow breast I've ever seen, so maybe that is a new mutation.
