I ahve A female Society and a (I think Female) Spice Finch. (And I MIGHT be getting a Zebra cuz my dad really wants a zebra. Why? Cuz he thinks they are pretty.)

So What size cage would be best? Now we dont have $100.00 to go buy a huge cage. And we dont have room either, So share you pic and ideas. Ill be waiting.

The bigger cages are the best. Finches need to fly. They also do much better in long cages, vs. high...bar spacing is also very important...the bars need to be fairly close together...

$100 isn't very much to pay for a cage...if you're really strapped for cash you're better off making an appropriate cage than going with one that's too small...
A bird in the hand...requires some serious washing up...

These "breeding"cages are not the best looking things on the market but they come 30"l x 18"t x 16"d and can easily accomodate 3-4 birds. Image

You can usually pick them up at Petco/Petsmart for less than $40. Look on e-bay or shop elsewhere online if you don't have the larger pet shops in your area.

Ok. Yea like I said wee might be getting a Zebra Finch too. My dad says "If you guys see one at a garage sale get it" because he dosen't want to spend even $70 on a cage! But thats what ya get for rescueing a poor lil Society.

Tammie,
I saw this cage at PetCo. I liked it a lot, great size and nice white finish. Not to mention that the price was OK too.
However, what worried me was that there was no plastic bottom that catches at least some of the seeds. The bottom is just a tray.

Yes, they don't have the high plastic sides like many of the other cages. I use the seed hoppers that TammyS. sells so don't have a problem with hulls flying about.

you can also buy cloth seed guards that work rather well :) Or if you're so inclined you can sew one, I made mine and it works pretty well.

Thanks Tammie and Thalia.
I am thinking about buying a bigger, flight cage for my fids. If I can only convince my hubby that our fids need another cage. :)
It won't be easy.
