Anyone know what these are???

Post by tstcpc » Thu Nov 19, 2009 8:32 am

I adopted these little guys from the local humane society. Can't find any information on what they are. Hopefully someone can help. Not the greatest pictures, their beaks have a tint of blue/gray.

On the perches, in the nest box
Gathering feathers and twigs
They will make a lovely home
For the chicks that they will soon rear.....

Silverbills, Silverbills

Congrats to your new birds and it's great to hear everyone getting into the Christmas Spirit :D

as mentioned before you have asian silverbills and they get easaly mixed up with the african silverbills ... the only way to keep them seperated as species is the color of the top of the tail ... asian (indian) ones have white feathers on top , african ones always a brown/grey color .... the species do breed together and considerd as unwanted mixed breed , you can always see it when they got mixed up even in third generation on the very light pink color in the tail ...

Have they sung for you yet? The song is soft and very delightful.

Females lay eggs. That is if you put a nest and some nesting material for them.
I am sitting here in the dark trying not to laugh out loud and wake my finches up!!! Silverbills indeed!!!!
