Re: Question about finches bath water.
That's why I think mixed aviaries and cages are great, because some species may be much more adventurous than others. When my bleus were in quarantine they wouldn't touch egg food. After being moved to the other cage they now eat it as much if not more than the other birds, just because they watched the others eating it. Sort of like the little kid who wants his toy only after you say your are going to give it to his brother.

Mine too! As someone new to finches, this was surprising for me, as my parrots and conures only bathe about once or twice a week, and I have Ringneck Doves and Cockatiels who won't go NEAR bathwater!dfcauley wrote: They all bathe several times a day.
But is sure is fun to watch them!!

Absolutely!!! All my birds bathe. I know this is due to watching the others and learning from them. I have three birds in a cage and they will not bathe. Two goulds and one shaftail. But they will not.....

Even my newest gould babies take baths. They are the cutest things ever in that fountain splashing around!

I managed to get a picture of the little soaker, it is the Pearl John gave me, Lance.
This bird loves to stand in the water bowl. After a soaking he goes back in for more, he was a duck in a past life!!!

Janine,
John told me societies love to bathe, this bird is the biggest bather of them all. If I put a bowl of water in the cage he gets in it first and hogs it. The cup is refilled a few times a day. His cage is next to my desk, once in awhile I feel little splashes, there he is in the cup, soaking and splashing!
He is the cutest little bird with such a personality.

Cindy,
They LOVE fresh water. When I change my fountain every day the birds go crazy! It is like they KNOW I have put clean water in there.
