I was told they weren't. We can both keep an offspring or two and ship what the other needs to make a pair  ...I may be going over to see him when we move my mother-in-law back to Pa. in March (she lives not far from John).

Thank you Donna and Animal Quackers. They are different, bigger and heavier like a java or canary. They have a very interesting song.

Right away When I told my daughter the song reminds me of a bird I used to hear a lot up North she starts playing wild birds' songs on her phone, they really like the Goldfinch!

Both sets of birds are resting now, they are big eaters.

Hey Cindy Just got back from New Orleans. I think the birds are spectacular. You did a wonderful job picking the birds. I will not worry about my pair cause I know they are in great hands. I am in no hurry, we will ship them when the weather permits. We have already had a few nights in the low to mid 30's and another front comes through in the middle of the week bringing the temps down again to the mid 30's for a few nights. I believe things will warm up by the beginning of next week. Also please thank your husband for me.
I was telling Cindy in an email earlier that it would be wonderful to be able to afford to hop a plane when there is a show in another state. Leave early in the morning, catch a plane back home in the evening. That way you also would not have to worry about someone having to care for your birds. Also I wonder if I were to ever do that if I can carry the birds on the plane with me? Never thought of that until now.
I'll be back shortly, going to buy some lottery tickets.

pretty. I much prefer their look than the cut throats. Best wishes for future babies and pairings!

Nice!! I prefer them to cut throats also. Cut throats are just too gory for me.

They look kinda like the Cut throats with a little difference in the feathers pattern. They are neat looking finches and if you like the color brown you're going to like them. I know I was really fond of the Cut throat (male) I had. I hope you'll enjoy them.

Thank you everyone. They are a bit bigger than a cutthroat, real full, a heavier bird. I hope the heads color up pretty good. The breeder said they went through their first molt already.

Right now they are in a 30x18 cage. We looked at bigger flight cages at the show but the prices were very high. So I am going to look on the internet and see what deals are out there. The one I have for my Shaftails would be good, it can be a bit bigger.

John's pair is staying here in sunny Florida until it warms up, either he is freezing while we are warm or visa versa.

They ate so much yesterday I had to refill the bowls.
