Re: I broke an egg-Graphic Content Warning
Wow that's great. I was expecting to hear bad news when I clicked this thread. Keep pulling through chick! I think he made it through the toughest part which was being premature. He looks like a regular chick to me now.

I am glad he was developed enough. Usually if the lungs are far enough along they have a good chance. The larger chick is able to beg louder, sway and knock the little guy out of the picture. So supplimenting is probably the best thing you can do. Hopefully he will be able to compete with his older sibling. He is so much smaller.

I have a bad news. The little is dead. I found it at the bottom of the nest. So many things I could have done to prevent this from happening. Now I’m feeling guilty that I let nature takes it course.

Don't feel too badly - sometimes, no matter what we do, nature will have its way.

I am so sorry for your loss! And I too know how we can take on the feeling of responsibility when things don't go the way we want them to. Please do not beat yourself up...sometimes, no matter what we do, and even if we do EVERYTHING right, nature takes control.
I am thinking good thoughts for you. Rest in peace little fighter!

I think when there is a size difference like that, the odds are stacked against the little guy from the beginning.

Sorry the little fellow did not make it. I agree with Gary, the size difference was hard to overcome. Bigger siblings will most always win out. Even if the parents had hatched the egg themselves, the size difference would of still been an issue.
