Got my Red heads today

Post by JohnBoy » Wed Dec 09, 2009 4:01 pm

Cindy sent my red head finches yesterday afternoon and I just picked them up from my PO. She also sent me a wonderful surprise. 2 orange cheek waxbills. You did a great job packing them for your first time. Thanks Cindy.

I am glad they arrived in good shape. They got there in less than 10 hours! that was fast. Enjoy them, what until the red heads start singing and calling. They have some really different sounds.

Hope your red heads settle in as well as Cindy's pair has. I think orange cheeks are some of the cutest finches ever  Enjoy :!:

Thanks everyone, John enjoy them!

John and I had to wait until the weather was warm enough, which was hard since we ended up getting his chilly weather two or three days later. We both "weather watched" for the last week, finally yesterday got warm. Sunday in Florida we wore jeans and a sweaters, Monday it was shorts and a tank top, Tuesday also. Wacky weather. John had some snow and chilly weather days so that delayed things also.

We both got a warm weather break on Tuesday. They left my area at 4:45pm and got to John mid afternoon the next day. Both of us were tracking the birds. They took a Fed Ex jet from Tampa to New Orleans then right off to John.

I was nervous leaving them at the post office but the lady was an animal lover and said they would take good care of them. Both times we shipped birds it was short and went very smoothly. John said there was not any water spilt in the box, so they had a smooth ride.

John, how are the reds doing? Have they gone into the box yet?

No, maybe they prefer the half open.
