Once you find a product/name brand you like you can google that name and find distributors near you. Or for comparison shopping, pricing and shiiping cost to your area.
There are some members on here that sell products....look at the bottom of their post and you will see their web sites.

Happy shopping. :D

Thanks Candace, did I get the name right?

:D Yep, you got the name right...but I answer to just about anything  Sometimes your local pet store will carry a product you request. If they know they have customers who want it. Many times they can just add it onto orders they are already placing.

Though if you buy say 20 lbs.or more you could keep most in the freezer. You could then get cheaper pricing by the pound which would cover the extra expense of shipping.
I buy 300 to 500 lbs. at a time and keep it in a large freezer. It will stay fresh like the day you bought it.
I average about $ .80 to $1.20 per pound (including shipping) for my seed mixes.... they are premium foods that I could not find in my local petsmart, nor for $1 per pound. The buying in bulk and freezing keeps the cost down for me.
With your location you should do well on shipping from the second company http://www.foryourbird.com/

I started checking different sites for the ABBA1900 finch was only looking at the five lbs. bags and with shipping it just about doubles the cost. I googled a place that is back near my old neighborhood called The Feed Store, which sells a variety of seed by the lb and sack and cater to all animals from mice to horses. They probably would carry a finch mix consisting of what seed.... But they do sell individual seed also. If I had a better idea of what specific seed to look for I could make up my own mix. What should I be looking for. I can see why you like the ABBA because of whats in it, maybe they would carry it, I will call and inquire. They don't have a web site was just able to get address and phone number. If i could get a list of seed that would help. I did check the FIC on the forum but it only lists about 5 seeds with reference to species specific seeds to come. I have started using Quiko egg and Lafeber which they seem to like, Herb Salad also available.
If you missed my other posting I'm up to 4 zebs which look like a normal grey male and cfw hen. Nagdabit is giving a hand in I D and is probably got it right. Trying to get better pics.

You could mix white porso millet, siberian red millet, canary grass seed, and many others but some seeds are higher in protein and some higher in carbohydrates. I have added millet to seed mixes that was fed to outside birds in winter to help put some fat on and give extra calories to burn to keep warm.... but most of the time I would rather rely on the experts that have the nutrition balanced for the different diets throughout the year. After breeding I give mine a lower protein austere diet. Then I increase the protein before breeding season is to begin.

Maybe someone that mixes there own will post a good mixture here.

I used to buy all those overpriced seed mixes from petsmart too. $4 For a 1 or 2 pound bag. I recently discovered a new seed mix at my local bird store. I believe it's a local company. It's either in Oregon or Washington. It's called Sleek & Sassy. I buy the "Garden Finch" blend. There's nothing but powder left in the cups! They eat every single seed. The seeds are super tiny and have dried greens mixed in. Wonderful Brand. And I believe I pay $23 for a 20 Pound bag. Definitely worth it. I'm not sure if they ship nationwide but it's worth lookin' into! I see them online through other retailers but they seem to charge more.
Euro&Normal Societies, Stars, Goulds, Zebras, Canaries, OC Waxbills, Hybrids (not bred by me), Cutthroats, Diamond Doves & Shaft Tails. 1 GC conure, 9 aquariums (hobby before finches), 2 pit bulls, 1 cat, 1 axolotl, 2 mice, and 1 corn snake.

Tony,
If you go to the Herman Bros site they list each seed that is in their mixes. That should give you a good idea which seeds you would be looking for. http://www.hermanbros-seed.com/pg1.htm Finch mixes: http://www.hermanbros-seed.com/finch_se ... INCH%20MIX I use the KG Finch and EM Soak Seed for gouldians and there is no waste at all.

Thanks Debbie, I did notice that. Since I remembered about the store by us I will be checking that out. "The Feed Store" in Burbank Il. a small suburb just west of Chicago and actually not that far from where I work. I have been off on vacation/caregiver. The wife went in for a bit of knee surgery. One reason I've been able to hit the forum so much and do all this research.

That's what I did, decided which seeds I was looking for in a mix and went from there. Found a local store but their seed was dusty and full of moths so I've been buying from Herman Bros. Just last week we found another local shop and their seed is very clean (like Hermans) and free of bugs. Their price is the same as Hermans for 50 pound bags so I'll be saving all that shipping.
Just goes to show you always have to have an eye out for supplies.
Happy camper!!
