what to put with the green singer

Post by star » Tue Dec 15, 2009 4:04 pm

I was wondering what bird I could put with a male green singer. If I put a female green with him will they get along all year or would they need to be separated at any time? Green singers are expensive so I thought maybe a different finch with him. Just don't know what else I can put with him.

Check out this information in the FIC - Green singers are considered pushy, so you should choose another finch that falls in the same category. And make sure that the cage is large enough to allow theym to get away from each other if need be, too. Others who have them can give their personal experiences. I'm just going by the recommendations on the Finch Information Centre:

i would never put a yellow colored bird with a green singer in one cage or aviary . same for family members of the green singers , specialy the males are very pushy or even agressive .

I agree with Ray. You can have only one pair per enclosure. Two females or two males can kill each other. I keep my pair together all year around. Better to keep them alone during breeding period, because they are territorial and you shouldn’t put any yellow or orange birds in the enclosure.
