I don't think there is anything special you need to do. Just put her in and keep an eye on them - though it may take them from a few minutes to a couple of days to get used to each other. Keep us posted!

Re: Lonely Mrs Shafttail
Some folks suggest you move all the perches around and then put all birds back in together, so that the resident birds won't have the advantage of "home ground", so they will be less aggressive to a newcomer in the cage, as they will all need to go through the ritual of finding their pecking order in the new surroundings.
But with the residents being Societies, they are usually very, very easy going... they will likely have to watch out for the shafttail, not the other way round. But being an "only" she shouldn't be overly domineering. I'm betting that things will be just fine.

I agree with Franny, rearrange the cage, hang nests in different spots, change the water cup spot with the seed cup. Basically change things up. If the societies have the cage just as it was they may get territorial.
If I add an new pair to another pairs (finches, hookbills) cage I completely redesign the set up (we all know how much I love to do that!) so each pair is going into a area and that way they can figure out who gets what and they is no pre-established territories.

Be my guest Cindy .. as long as you dont mind sharing my living room with me birds
Update:
The societies were a little skittish to start with but seemed to settle down, that was until she did her "miniture bird of prey call" lol, but all was well soon after to the point where all 3 of them are huddled together in 1 giant ball

cheers all

They can't be brought into the states anymore...so sad! What does your money translate in US monies? They are between $500 and $1000 here.

Re: Lonely Mrs Shafttail
Just toss the new birds in. Socs are super friendly. The shaftails can be the pushy ones. Keep an eye on them for the first day or 2. Dont be alarmed if they are scared of each other and they flutter around all day as they grow used to each other.
