Re: New Gould
He will when he realizes that it is good. I have a canary that just keeps chattering until I give him more! Once he gets it look out, he may just be the same.....

My canaries are are just like that as well. They are nearly in the bowl before I set it down. They love eggfood. That's why my Apollo is so fat. lolakidsgal wrote:He will when he realizes that it is good. I have a canary that just keeps chattering until I give him more! Re: New Gould
I'm certain. My female canary had scaley feet last year. This stuff is definately poop. lol.nixity wrote:Are you certain that is poop and not scaly mites? :\
When I got him, the mans house was really dim and I brought the bird home at about 8:00 so I just did not get a good look. But, regardless, I have treated him with SCATT and if he had any mites of any sort it will be taken care of soon enough. He is looking better every day though.

Re: New Gould
The blue gould is doing really great. It has been a few weeks and I have a question... I assumed it was male, but could it be female? I know that a females beak typically shows some black. My other females are in breeding condition right now and theirs are blackish.
I only start to doubt because I have him next door to a lone hen and he has not acted the least bit interested and there has been NO singing since I got him. And he did seem to be very curious about my two males on the other side of the room.
I dunno, I feel pretty confused
.
Can anyone here tell for sure that it is male by the picture I posted earlier?

Re: New Gould
I am no expert when it comes to this type of bird, yet when I look at it, it does resemble a female only because it has no read on its beak like most males and it seems a bit on the dull side like a female. Again, this is just my observation!

2nd pair Normal Male?(Nerian) + 1 CFW female (Zuri)

Re: New Gould
No blues have red in their beak - they can't produce the pigment.
It does somewhat resemble a hen but sometimes it helps to see the back when you are looking a blue

Re: New Gould
Could it be a hen and have no dark coloration on it's beak at this time of year? Isn't this their breeding season? Well, I suppose I can get a pic of it's backside. I will try to post another pic sometime today.

Re: New Gould
Okay so here he is and I included a pic with his neighbor as a contrast. Even after being in the same cage with her he did not sing. What do you think, is it a female?

Re: New Gould
It does look like one of my females. I have a BH WB BB female that lost her foot in an accident. She is the most wonderful mommy. That one that you have there looks just like her. I will get pics and post. I have to ask about my yellow anyway.....
