The size A closed bands are used for Goldbreast.

I found this handy guide for banding, it mentions Neosporin as a lubricant. It also can help if the chicks leg gets scraped. I assume they are referring to the ointment not the creme with has a mild pain reliever in it.

The article also has some good points about bringing in imported birds from out of the country and across state lines.

lmao!!

I can't imagine sticking their feet in my mouth but hey, whatever works..

I have a small KY-Silky bottle that I use.. sounds odd, I'm sure, but because of what it is designed for it is not sticky and the product itself isn't terribly residual so the babies' legs don't stay sticky or oily/goopy afterwards.

Probably perks up visitors if I leave it out, so I try to be proactive about putting it away with the bands.. "what the hell is THAT doing down HERE!?"

;p

Tiffany..funny you mentioned that particuliar lubricant. The vets use it, the peditricians use it. It is water soluable. On one of the threads (not sure if it was the gram negative/positive one) I was thinking it but did not mention it...thanks for bring that up, it is a good alternative.

Good laugh this morning. I use to use a silicone lubricant (sold as a sexual aid) on my clipper blades in the grooming shop. It worked geat as it didn't gump up, didn't put residue on the dogs fur, protected the blades from rust, wasn't aresol, and was cheaper than the lubricants that were produced for the grooming trade.
Though I did get very strange looks from others....LOL I eventually transferred the product to a different container.... my doggie style jokes grew old

Tiffany my avian vet used it several times when having to take my Gray's temperature. She wiped him off but I never worried when he preen himself afterwards.

I can just see it now, at the checkout counters across America bird owners buy this and blushing saying to the teller "it is for my birds!"
