I paid 104 USD for a case of 30x18x18 and had it shipped to my door in 3 days. Came from california 3/4 the way across the US. I personally highly recommend Yangtze USA.

For what its worth, my experience with country feathers, on 2 occasions, was poor and would never recommend them to anyone. Feel free to pm me if you want details.

I called that place you recommend and they got rude with me for calling to early! I think they should put their prices on the web page if they don't want people calling them or have an answering service, because it was 10:30am where I was calling from. I like countryfeathers they are extremely friendly and have exceptional customer service and their prices are less. I didn't need a tax ID either.

Chris,
They are all manufactured in China. Yangtze is a particular company in China that make the ones your supplier uses. I have received Yangtze cages and use to sell them out of my pet store. Even ABBA sells Yangtze as so does many distributors in the US. I personally bought them from Brown's. He delivered them to my shop via truck with no shipping charge..just minimum of a $300 order..but tax ID required.
Country feather's owner designed his breeder cage with the high door for attaching nest boxes after breeding himself. Here's a picture:
http://ep.yimg.com/ip/I/yhst-1881439748 ... 58_1763292
I do not know what company he uses out of China but if it was Yangtze then that would be stamped on the box and also a little sticker on the cahe bottom that says Yangtze. Country Feathers cages have none of those... so leads me to believe they are made from a different manufacturor. I talked with him at the fair also and his sole purpose(besides making $) was to offer a better designed and quality cage for the same price as the Company that has monopoliezed the cheap bird cage industry for eons..... Now if I can just convince them to design cage fronts for sale....... but I am sure he knows that would cut down on the cage sells...... :?
Anyway, amittedly I have not bought any Yangtze in many years.... no need to.....found better :D I also like Country Feathers attitude and prices better :D
As far as the GBs...when it gets warmer. I will make it to the Atlanta fair/show eventually :D

Chris and Candace, one thing I found that with Yangtze he may quote a very low price for the cages but it is at least 10 dollars more than the cost of the cages to ship, especially into Florida. I don't like paying forproduct when the shipping regular ground costs more than the items. And he was charging me sales tax and I don't even live in California!

For me the quality of the cages from Country Feathers is really nice compared to the ones I got from BirdCages4Less.com (theirs were flimsy). The same cage is the cage that I got from the dealer I got a cage of cages from in Ft. Myers. Country Feathers cost of $126.00 includes shipping.

I think bottom line is what ever you are buying you need to feel comfortable with and get the most bang for your buck...so to speak!

tkilgour - Not having the prices listed on the website has always been my one complaint. I make it a point to not call anyone in california before 8 am. Its just polite. You were calling them at 730AM their time. I would have been annoyed too.

Candace - I just checked my box and it does say Yangtze on it. When I was at a bird mart, the CF lady had 30x18x18 cages and they were identical in style and quality to the Yangtze ones I had received (sides, front, everything). So this is the basis for my opinion. Either way, if I need to buy more cages, I will surely give CF another chance, soley based off your recommendation and praise and good luck with them.

I didnt know you owned a pet shop. Planning to open another?

Chris,
Heavens no on a pet shop. Though they need one here. 2 awful ones here as far as anything other than salt water fish and a Petsupermarket and a Petsmart . There were a few nice family run ones but they retired or couldn't compete with the super stores. I am retired. I had a grooming/boarding kennnel here I bought in 1992. It branched out to include selling my own canaries, finches, cages and supplies. (I did not offer other breeders birds )I closed shop the end of 2005. Married life will do that to you (married in 2004)
I just try to keep up with our rental properties now.
In Athens, GA I managed 2 pet stores for a total of 6 years before opening my own grooming shop. The service industry is much less stressful than the livestock part. Never a day off with a pet store. Most of my working career has been in the pet industry....before that restaurant business..my other passion, Food :D

I sure hope that CF doesn't start to carry inferior cages ....... The new design and thicker wire gauge is what sold me in the first place. Maybe they were not selling the same ones at the fair you were at. They don't come to my area fairs any more....too far and not enough profits. But I understand they will be sponsering shows in the Tennesse, Mississippi, Lousiana, Georgia area. I ordered and had shipped last June and received good quality.

Yes, I didn't realize they were in Cali. at the time. However, when you run a business, customer service is part of the job. Therefore, getting rude with someone for calling you early in the morning isn't good customer service. That is why they should have an answering service or a machine with times of operation, instead of turning away customers because your in bed. It is just poor business practice and no way earn trust of potential customers.

Also, my boxes from CF do not have a sticker or logo saying yangtze anywhere on them, nor do the cages and I just got a case a couple weeks ago. So I am not sure about that.

I agree with you on this one. In this day and age there is no reason for someone running a business, to not have voice mail. I would have been upset at being told I called too early, too! Guess he doesn't really want the business, is what I'd take that to mean.

I agree. If you want the business then be nice!!!! I just could not get over the fact he would not listen about wanting to charge me sales tax, I live in Florida and should not pay California sales tax.

That and the shipping being more than the cages...I am glad you told me about Country Feathers months ago Candace.

Yah, agreed. It was early but any business at this day in age should be able to handle any call at any time of day. Even with a simple 10 dollar answering machine.

Here is a GREAT deal I just found. The site has free shipping. You can get 6 (24" x 16")cages and a 4 tier stand to match for a total of $158.00 =D>

http://stores.homestead.com/JMExotics/- ... gories.bok

So far this is the cheapest I have found and I have been scouting for a while now...

Meagan,

I have that set up, it was my original set of cage I started with along with the stand. Since the stand does not have a support along the back, it bends and twist some if you move it or bump it. I chose not to use the stand since if I moved it, leaned a little against it the whole tower of cages leaned sideways or forward. I was always straightening the stand and had fear the cages would tumble. An ideal tier stand would have the cross support in the back. If you go to roll it be very careful if all the cages are on it.

Oh, okay. It would be stationary and I would not put the wheels on it. I plan to put it against a wall near the window in my guest room. I am so excited to get it so the room will no longer have cages scattered here and there.

Meagan, I had it against the wall and it still sifted a bit if bumped or moved slightly. We opted not to use the stand until my husband adds cross bars to the back to stablize it.

It is nice to get everything organized!

Is it really that unstable? Is it metal or plastic? It looks like metal. Maybe it could be welded or even Gorilla glued at the joints?

Meagan..it is metal but very light. See how it is and you may need to use a small "L" brackets at the joints or to bars as an "x" across the back. The set of cages and stand fron BirdCages4Less.Com

http://birdcages4less.com/page/B/PROD/S ... es/PA5723s

has the same style stand

http://birdcages4less.com/page/B/PROD/B ... nds/PA5721

I don't mean to scare you but just watch, mine was very unstable. It was kept in the back room during quarantine and then we moved it out to the main room. During the move the frame of the stand twisted and leaned. I stopped using it when I bumped into it and the unit leaned forward from the top. Yours might be heavier but ours was so light weight, it needed a definate support across the back to hold it in position. I ended up getting white wire shelves from Target that fit the cages and were sturdy to use instead.
