Opinions and Advice Please ...
I'm pretty much ready to start construction of my aviary now, the thing is the door/flap that will allow the birds access from indoor flight to outdoor flight, i originally designed it as a simple 6" by 6" flap on hinge but after reading a few posts here about Gouldians (which i plan to keep in future) and draught problems Im now thinking would it be best just to cut some "peep" hole circles into wood to cut down on draught getting into the indoor compartment .....
Would this be the better idea ??
Any opinions will be taken on board and any other ideas would be appreciated just as much ...
Thanks

I think your flap would work that way when you want them to stay in or out you can.

I think a flap idea would be good too. If you are concerned about draughts instead of cutting out the wood and hinging it (little gap all around the hole) Why not cut out the space you want then get a bigger piece of wood and hinge that, that way when the flap is closed it would be flush up against the wall and bigger than the hole its covering. If you are really worried you could also have some kind of another door or flap or slider on the other side of the wall.
Hope you can make sense of my idea!

only advice I can give is that you join feathered flyer
Feathered Flyer - Home
then have a look at some of the pics in the gallery, shows exactly what you are asking about

Tryed joining that site Mick, about 3 times. Each time it says that admin has to check all new registrations etc, after about 2 weeks it doesnt even recognise my login, and as you start with no permissions i cant even post on the site for help??
Would love to join as its a british site (well, .co.uk) but just seems a ballache, never knew a site like it.
Thanks all for advice

Re: Opinions and Advice Please ...
I just made an outdoor aviary and have the hinged door kind of opening. I used weather stripping all the way around the door to cut down on drafts.
Good luck

As for the pop hole...I use a sliding door.Slotted timber top and bottom with a metal rod through the aviary wire to slide it to and fro
