Black-faced Firefinches

Post by Domenic » Sun Feb 28, 2010 8:58 pm

I've been wanting a BF fire pair for a long time now. Unfortunately pics and info on the web are scarce, so I'm just wondering if any of you BF fire owners on the forum could post some pics of them here for me to save or point me to a thread where I can see pics you've posted of them.

If you have information or tips on them that you think I should know I would love to hear it too!

if you can find a copy, there is some info about them in the encyclopedia of estrildid finches written by Matthew Vriends
Addicted to Finches, yes I do admit it.
I pray they never find a cure.

Thanks Liz! What I love about this species is how beautiful both sexes are, yet they are almost completely different. Your female is beautiful, the male too.

Saving to desktop! :D

Yes, please feel free to use the photo on your own computer, just no posting to other websites. Good luck in your search - do keep us posted when you find some. I just got lucky finding this pair on Kijiji. You never know what pops up there.

I loved reading that thread again, John - thanks!

Can you remind me of the size of your cage? I wonder if mine is too small for my BFFF's. I did hang a hooded wicker nest inside (beside the plastic which is hung on the outside) tonight. I put in some hay and covered it over with a good layer of cocofibre and put extra in the cage too. [-o<
