Prairie Moon Nursery :D

I found it by virtue of Lainey who ordered the Switchgrass from them - but they have a LOT of various seeding grasses on there, some of which I cut myself at Lainey's property last year to use as nesting grass for the birds!

here's the latin name for the feather grass
Pennisetum macrourum

in a lot of countries it is classified as a weed.
this is mainly due to the fact that if allowed to grow uncontrolled it can & will take over an area
Addicted to Finches, yes I do admit it.
I pray they never find a cure.

Thanks, Tiffany, that is exactly what I was looking for!

Sally,
Here is a company I order from. They are only about 45 minutes from me and have awesome stuff. They also carry a lot of grasses for our area that tolerate heat very well. They would probably do well in your hot area also. May be cheaper shipping too.

Caution on those cutting and using grasses. Some types like Pampas grass are not suitable. The grass cuts easily (paper cuts) even when dry and can wreck havoc on your birds legs. I learned this the hard way. Found blood on legs and finally figured it out...boy did I feel like a bad keeper #-o

Thanks for that link, Candace--they have a great selection of plants. I'll probably mostly use seed, but I just might order some plants that I can't find around here!
