Back in the Aviary!! (Pictures)

Post by jamezyboo21 » Sat Mar 20, 2010 3:31 am

I cleanes the aviary out and put the finches back in it. It is still getting cold at night so i added a heat lamp in the cage. I have decided to keep 2 trios of societies in the house all year round just in case they are needed to foster. The javas will probably go out after they finish raising there babies. They are in my room right now. The aviary is in the garage for now till i can put it outside at when its warmer at night. The zebras in the aviary will also be moved to there own flight cage half the size of the aviary when it warms up at night. Then it wont look so crowded in the aviary.

HERE ARE A FEW PICS:

Please be careful with the greenery you have in there still attached to the stalk - I can't tell you how many finches I've lost in those spots.

The clear picture that shows the RH Gouldian on top of the area that can be a hazard. They get their feet stuck and when they struggle to get free - they can break their legs or even pinch toes.

Very pretty birds you have - I love the OH WB YB male

That or just cut the stems off of the main stalk and attach them with clothespins or something like that. I use greenery too but just have learned the hard way.

Okay..I have cut the stems off the palnts and added a few more to make the nests a little more hidden. I havent really bothered the finches since i put them in becasue they went straight to nest building and i have seen them all mating. I have a feeling there are a few nests in there right now with eggs but i dont want to bother them with nests checks because i really want the parents all to raise there babies this time on there own.
