Questions about plants
I have read that finches like to hide among plants and such. I have a 32" X 21 " X 35" cage, and have seen pictures of vines and such in the cage. Silly question...is silk plants okay to use? This is just my second week of owning them, and I am amazed at how much I have taken to them.

Re: Questions about plants
Absolutely, silk is OK. That's probably what most of us use, along with some plastic plants. Have fun decorating that cage. The birds seem to like the silk and I think they can't tell the difference from silk or real. They'll appreciate the security of some cover.

Re: Questions about plants
Finches definitely love having plants around, and since real plants just don't work well in cages, silk or plastic ones do just as well, serving to decorate the cages as well as provide some privacy for the birds.

Re: Questions about plants
Also, several kinds of finches require a certain amount of privacy before they are willing to nest such as: cordons, most waxbills, and several others. So nests nestled in or around silk vines, plants, etc helps to satisfy that. Also, silk plants does make the cage a more appealing thing to look at!
