Re: Bloody Diarrhea in Gouldian-- Update 4/1 w/ Video
Domenic,
I just typed this long thing out and the page expired! Let me try again. I'm really starting to hate computers!
Nothing but problems lately.
Anyway...
I sent TMS, Ronivet, Vitalize, Citric Acid, and a few other things.
The Ronivet is 1/8 tsp per cup of water - this is 2xs the dose. Treat for 7 days.
The TMS is 1/8 tsp per 2 cups of water. Treat for 7 days.
IF you choose to use the Ronivet and the TMS at the same time then you will need to mix the TMS first and then dump out a cup to mix the Ronivet in.
The Vitalize is one level tsp per 8 oz of water. This is used to help with dehydration and exhaustion as a result of illness. I would use this the first day you get it to help Judah.
The Citric Acid - I use 1/4 tsp per liter. This is used to help lower the PH in the body. This is like using ACV.
I also sent Avi-Immune - this helps boost his immune system. I would put this on his seed or eggfood that you are feeding him daily. I tend to change my sick bird food daily because they always seem to poop in it. So, I would use a few pinches on his food.
I sent a few other things but can't remember now - you will have to tell me when you get them so I can help with the dosages for them.
I really hope we are not too late in helping Judah
And, you are very welcome!
I was on my blackberry today and I can't use the faces on that so don't think I was mad or upset.
I hope one of the things Kristen is sending is a wormer - I would use this on the whole flock if you have never done so in the past.
I also wanted to send you some Essential Oils but I don't have any at the moment - I'm waiting on my shipment. I still feel these are a miracle worker when the birds are this bad.

Re: Bloody Diarrhea in Gouldian-- Update 4/1 w/ Video
One more thing - I was afraid to keep typing just in case the page expired again...
When I was packaging your stuff today my son (16 year old) asked if I was taking this stuff to Donna's... I said no they are for Domenic and we have to get these in the mail today. Of course 50 questions started - got down to how old you are... I said I didn't know for sure but I was told you were young.
Now out of curiosity... how old are you if I may ask? Either way I don't care - I'm just glad we have young people like you interested in finches. Of course my children aren't...
You should receive the package by mail (priority) on Thursday.

Misty I'm glad you aren't upset or anything. I didn't take you for that type of person, but there are some sensitive people in this world and I always try to be as polite as I can. On a good note, almost all of the things you sent me weren't sent by Kristen, so you definitely didn't waste your time. Yes, she is sending Worm Away.
I'm 16 years old. It's a bit strange that all my "finch friends" have kids as old as me (often older), but I haven't found a single one who wasn't willing to overlook it.
The people on this forum (and off the forum too) have been so gracious to me, it really inspires me to keep this going in the finch community. One day, when I have the means, I would like to be the one sending meds to the kid with no money.
On an unrelated note, I told my mom you were sending citric acid and she freaked. She wants to know where you get your's. She's been looking for it everywhere because she needs it to make her own mozzarella.
Back to Judah, I gave him Pedialyte water today and he is FREAKING over it. He has gone to the water dish at least 50 times in the past 30 minutes. I didn't dehydrate him or anything, he had water available to him the entire day, but his is very very fond of the Pedialyte. Maybe he can pull through for the next two days with the added electrolytes. I also noticed that the Pedialyte has citric acid in it. It isn't EXACTLY pedialyte, it's one of those imitations but has the same ingredients.

Domenic,
I'm happy Kristen is sending the wormer - and other things. I really want you to have these things on hand so you can use them as a preventative treatment with your new birds.
The citric acid can be found in health stores or perhaps even in your grocery store where the vitamins are kept. Otherwise she could buy it on line for cheap from this website:
http://www.luckyvitamin.com/search.aspx ... itric+acid
I didn't think you purposely dehydrated him - if anything when they are sick they don't eat and or drink properly so this is a good sign for Judah. Hopefully the extra electrolytes will get him feeling a little stronger and more willing to eat and drink and not starve himself. This is half the battle!

Judah has died.
I would like to thank EVERYONE for the communal support and effort to save this little bird. It means so much to me, it really does. I will go on to treat the gouldian hen for whatever is necessary, though she appears very healthy at the moment.
We were so close to getting him that medication, that's what makes me so darn upset.

Ohhh Dominic
As I was reading this post I went into shock
So so sorry for your loss
I thought last night when I read that he was drinking his pedialyte that he was going to pull through.
I hope that is can ease your heart knowing that he has flown over that rainbow bridge and is feeling pain no more.

Domenic,
I'm so sorry we all didn't act faster
I'm so sorry you lost him without even the chance to try and treat him.

What a shock to read this. I also thought since he was drinking the pedialyte that he would have a chance to pull thru. So sorry he didn't make it, Domenic.

Thanks everyone. There's a bird fair in May here, maybe I can pull enough money together to get a new male for the female. She's calling like crazy.
