Green singers adjusting well and singing all the time!
I have found that my male Green singer sings the most and for long periods of time in the latter part of the day, mostly between 6 and 7:30 pm. He sings long rolling songs with little chirpy songs.
Is this a norm with Green singers, do the sing longer and the most at the end of the day?

Re: Green singer song - time of day.
Cindy, I have noticed that my birds in the house sing mostly in the morning and then in the evening. They are a lot louder in the evening.

He goes on for what seems like an hour. It is really enjoyable to listen to. It reminds me of my mom's birds.
The owls and zebras usually all sound off around 10:30/11 am. One starts and everyone else joins in.

It is the same with my Green Singer. He likes to sing later in the evening and early in the morning with shorter songs during the day.

That is how he is to. I think he is still adjusting to being here, he has not sung a long song in the morning yet but only in the evenings. He does little songs here and there. I love listening to him go on and on in the evenings.
They definately have plenty of room in the flight cage 36h x 21deep x 32 long. They mostly hop and fly around the top half and feed at the bottom.

The GS pair is getting used to life in their flight. They are in our front dining room, the cage is positioned so you can see it from out kitchen table acroos the way.
I added extra green for them to hide, jump on and roost in. The are definately enjoying the extra flight room and go from side to side, back. The female like to hang upside down more than the male.
They no longer fly frantic if I come near the cage to feed, the fly up to the top and hide in the plants much like my RCCBs.
The male has taken to singing long drawn out melodies in the morning , afternoon and every night around 6:30. We get to enjoy his songs as we sit down to dinner about the same time he starts in singing. He will go for about a half an hour with tiny breaks in between.
I am very happy with the pair and love watching them from a far and listening to the male's song, very pleasing! It was a good choice, getting the Green Singers.
Thank you to everyone that gave advice and information on these wonderful little birds.

Re: Green singers adjusting well and singing all the time!
I remember being one that suggested them to you Cindy because of their beautiful song. I only heard my male a few times and just fell in love with him. I tried to get a pair from Floyd this past fair but he didn't have two of the same kind of anything - just odds and ends of different species.
Is there anyone on the groups or have you found someone working with them and can sell unrelated pairs? I would prefer to buy from a breeder then the fair....
I'm really happy you like them

I've also been following what other members that own them and breed them have written about. I saw them at a show in November and liked them, toyed with the idea of getting them and could not resist getting them a few weeks ago.
I will try to record them in the orning when it is quiet here, tried to tonight. Everytime I went to record them, the dogs barked, the lovebird sqwauked and all the other finches were going off at the same time.

Re: Green singers adjusting well and singing all the time!
I just tried video taping them, the other finches started chirping and Lucy lovebird decided to chime right in...so I am boiling eggs, I'll feed the other finches, get some quiet and try again!!!! Watch they will start to sing and the phone or doorbell will ring then the dogs will bark!
I am posting armed guards on the front walk, giving the dogs a chew and taking the phone off the hook...my mission - to get a full length video without interruption of the male singing....signing off now to head on out...wish me luck!
This is the third time I've tried!!!!
