Hi guys.
I have been wondering, I know that my normal gray male is split for black cheek, but my female is not, so obviously I won't be getting any black cheek birds.
But I was wondering, will this black cheek gene travel on to his chicks? As in, if I would mate one of his chicks in the future with a split black cheek or black cheek would there be a chance to get a black cheek offspring?
I know zebra genetics are hard to predict, but I am just wondering if his split colour will "die" out with him or continue on in his children.

My guess would be that there is a 25% chance of a chick being split for BC.

Salam
split black cheek is one of the easiest splits to be detected
so u can detect the 25% split BC
and then mate one of the future females ( split BC ) to her dad
and u will have another 25% of getting a black cheek
good luck

Thank you LeWi but
how do you spot black cheek splits? I have read that the tear mark is bigger or the cheeks have some black in them, but my male shows none of that.

look at the tear drop, just under the eye. if the tear is forming a semi-circle under the eye then this is split for BC
if not then it is not split BC
