Black birdcages...

Post by haemma » Thu Apr 22, 2010 9:52 pm

I am wanting to buy some breeding cages. I am wanting black because it would integrate with my other stands and aquariums in the room. Can anyone tell me if you have black cages, and how you like them versus white cages plz?
Also, I am looking at the 16x24x16 with dividers, if divided would they still be big enough??

Here's a place that sells both colors at a good price and ships quick

I have black cages in one room and white in others...both work equally well, just your preference. :D

thank you for the link!
Are you able to see the birds as well in the black cages?

Depends on the color of the birds. I love yellow canaries in black cages...also goldbreast waxbills really stand out.The darker birds look great in white cages, white birds hardly show up...then birds like zebra finches which have dark and light colors look equally good in both :D

I agree with Candace. The birds are supposed to show up better in black cages, but some birds do better in white cages. Poop shows up more on black cages, I think. As far as size, if you take a 24x16x16 and put in the divider, you have two cages that are 12x16x16, definitely not big enough. Personally, I prefer the 30x18x18 dividable, but I still use them for just one pair of birds--the divider is great for when you need to catch birds. If you are breeding, once the babies fledge, you now have up to 6 more birds in that one cage, and it can get crowded.
