Is this a female??

Post by jamezyboo21 » Sun Apr 25, 2010 3:18 am

I was told This gouldian was a female but her colors have gotten darker and the other male never had any intrest in her. I think this is a female but wanted a 2nd opinion. I have never heard singing so i assumed its a female. Do they get colors as dark as the males?

I am inclined to say male because of the full mask and large band. Then again......I'm still trying to figure out if my female is a male. #-o

I think male too. It's beak looks to have the "lipstick tip" of a male, and its chest looks dark too. I believe the flash probably caused the chest to reflect and so it looks lighter to us. It's probably darker in real life, no?

How long have you had this bird?

Looks like my female Gidget

I'm looking more at the mask than anything else - yes, it's bright, but it's also mottled looking to me..

Compared to say, this OH cock:
