If I am giving away my baby finches to a bird store here in Florida, under law, do I have to band them?
Thanks!

Not many of the birds I have purchased over the past twentysomething years have had leg bands.
When I was breeding and trading my surplus to the petshops, they never required leg bands before they would buy.
These were privately owned pet shops as the chain pet stores (Petco Petsmart, etc.) don't usually buy from individuals with just a few birds.
Even so, I don't often seen a bird in Petco wearing a leg band either.

hi missi
really the only zebras that need rings on are the show ones,so that they know they are close rung with the present years rings ...the only reason to ring your own birds is for nest identification so they dont get muddled up when you are breeding...but it is very rare if you purchase any birds with rings on from a pet shop
