Solo Owl

Post by Boltonhill » Fri Nov 08, 2013 12:47 am

I had a pair of owls and a pair of Gouldians until this morning when I found my owl hen dead in her nest box. I know that the owls are very social; will the Gouldian hens adopt the owl or do I need to get him a friend of his own?

So sorry for your loss. If you have a male/female pair of Gouldians, they may not let the Owl share their space. Trios often don't work, as the two will pick on the odd one. All you can do for now is keep an eye on things and be prepared to move the single Owl if there seems to be any aggression.

And welcome to the forum! There's lots of good reading at the Finch Information Center, linked at left, and the members are always ready to help. If you put your general location in your profile, it makes it easier to answer locale-specific questions later on.

Welcome to the forum
So sorry for your loss :(
Gouldians and owls will get along fine together. The only down side I can think of is that the owls are a lot more cuddly then goulds so your owl may miss that.

I agree with Debbie.... if you can try to get it a friend. Owls love to cuddle and preen and gouldians don't.
