Misty, my friend has so many different colors, the turquoise and deep cobalts are so pretty. He has creaminos, olives, etc.
I don't want to get into breeding hookbills except the bourkes (year down the road yet). This little guy was bought by a lady less than a year ago, you can tell he has been handled but left alone alot. He has a fear of hands in the cage right now...of course everything is new to him and he has been in two differnet homes including an aviary in the last three weeks. I did get him in my hand, closed my hand gently around his back and tickled his head, if he fussed I said "tickle' and he bowed his head, he really liked his head rubbed. I've done this twice for about 5 minutes, each time he relaxed enough to relax my hand around him. If I opened my hand he scrambled to get away, as soon as I closed my hand he relaxed and bowed his head.
He went down and ate a little. I just hope with a lot of patience he will calm down enough to trust me. My friend told me to try him out for a week and see how it goes, if it does not work then he said to bring him back.
He stays still on the perch and looks at food in my hand but does not trust me enough yet to take it from me.
I would like it to work....since you have these little guys do you have any suggestions? If let him out he runs from me, as he did at my friend's home. He does enjoy just sitting on your shoulder under your hair or in the nook of a bent arm, head buried.
This is the little guy, slate/mauve with a bit of seagreen on it's chest.
