My gouldian Papa Smurf started going bald shortly after I got him, while he was raising a clutch of six. When All the babies fledged and weaned I quarantined him briefly and gave him a round of iverlux, then put him in with the young males in a SW window( about 4 weeks ago). Since they are also molting, they are getting eggfoood and feather fast regularly. He has always acted perfectly healthy. Well I am so happy, because he not only is molting finally....but is regrowing the feathers he had lost on his cheeks around his eyes and back of his head, as well as he has a patch coming back in on his chest

. So now the only thing I know is wrong is when he sings no sound what so ever can be heard. I can hear his calls and chirps perfectly clear. So maybe before I got him he had mites and this is residual damage?? When I first got him I quarantined him and gave him ronivet 12%, and scatt. I have since treated him with the iverlux. Dont know if the balding is related to the voice loss in song. But what is apparent is he was not recieving proper care prior to me getting him. I will say I seem to have hit a point of turing him into his beautiful self again! It has been my mission to get him in peak condition. I have nooooo idea how old he even is, but he produced 6 healthy babies for me, and otherwise has always seemed happy.
