Ivan did you do anything to the branches before using them....? I see they are green and easy to bend would love to try my hand at making these...

Ivan I just had a thought I spent the day outside triming my dogwood bushes do you think they would be good to use? I not sure about them being toxic.... opinions please.

I think they are easy to bend and green because they are still alive

And dogwood is on the safe plants list for hookbills, I assume it is the same for finches! :D Worth a shot

Yep, they are fresh and easy to bend. I use the finest kind of willow (Salix babylonica). I'm not sure about dogwood bushes, you can give it a try. :)

LOL!! Ivan I went right outside and striped a whole bunch of dogwood branches... They were small and young cuttings so a couple of hours later I had one started. I can't stop laughing =)) but I finally got it finished and its doesn't look to bad but the only bird that could use it is a Hummingbird =)) .

I put it in with the finches and put some bedding in it and they are all over it in and out.

I will try to put another one together and take more time. It was fun!

OK Dante you wanted pics so here they are NO Laughing..... [-X

If nothing else since its so small they can't nest in it they are having fun playing in it and taking the material out of it for a better nest elsewhere.
