Canary Molt!

Although they are technically passerines, canaries tend to be managed uniquely, so here is a forum just for them!

Canary Molt!

Post by Leo519 » Wed Aug 12, 2015 11:42 pm

Here are pics of my male canary Sunny with his nice normal feathers, and currently going through his molt. When he gets to this stage where his tail feathers have fallen out I always think he looks like a Peeps yellow chick marshmallow! :D

My guys (Canaries) never quite lose all of their tails at the same time.

This is so cute Laura.

I don't think he is.. I'm actually not 100% sure which variety of canary he is.
I got him about four years ago from Petsmart and my best guesstimate is he's an American Singer :?:
Here's a short video of him singing, maybe you or one of the other canary people on here will be able to tell me what kind he is?

He's a lovely little singer.
I really wish my guys would stop trying to imitate the Societies song  .

I let them listen to Canary songs all the time, and I get a mixture of Socie-nary, blah......

I thought I had 2 canaries but their beaks look thinner than yours. One is ginger and one is green/yellow. i will try to get pictures up soon.

Beautiful bird. I remember when my male canary lost all of his tail feathers, it was hilarious.
