This morning was deep cleaning day for the cages. I removed everything and did a good scrub down of each. I set the birds in the filtered sun to dry off and checked back on them about 10 minutes later. There sat my beautiful, crazy Mr. PT Whydah...ON TOP OF HIS CAGE!

Rut roh! One of the seed cup doors was stuck open so he made his great escape.

He flew up into the oak trees but wouldn't leave the yard. He was focused on the aviary and wanted in. I set a catch-cage in front of the aviary, opened the doors, and talked to him while he flew back and forth between the aviary, the top of the cage, and the trees. After 2 hours, I hung a seed cup on the outside of the open door. He came down for a quick snack and then flew back up in the tree. *sigh* He finally came down for another snack and hopped in the cage.

His adventure wasn't nearly as long or as far away as Apollo's but he chatted about it with his wife for at least an hour. LOL!!
