Alec, that looks like a 30" long cage? I'd say no...just the one pair.

By the way, it also has too many perches in it. One at each end is better, to encourage them to fly. Also, it would be better to replace the dowels with natural branches to give them more exercise for their feet.

Very pretty Javas!

I agree - just the one pair. Remove the divider and let them have the whole cage (after you remove the two middle perches). Also real branches would be much better than those dowels for their beaks and feet. :D I removed all the dowels from my cages as soon as I got them home (or never used the ones that came with the cages I put together). Lots of good branches that vary in size outside that I could cut from my yard and bring in.

That would be very small if you don't remove the divider. Too small for one pair of birds to exercise. They need to be able to stretch their wings and FLY. The bigger the cage - the healthier the birds.

They are like kids - they need exercise and by exercise - I mean birds need room to fly. Cramming them into 15" cage is no good for them and they will not be happy at all. They will survive but not happily. We all want our birds to be as happy as possible. Exercise and a good diet = healthier and happier birds.

If that is a 30x18x18 cage, I wouldn't keep anything larger than Gouldians in it, with only one pair per cage. Javas and Weavers need more room.

It would have to be a MUCH bigger cage - more like an aviary.

If you will read the Finch Information Center species listings for these two birds, it says they can be housed together, IF in a large enough flight or cage, at least 4' long. The Weavers may become aggressive while breeding.

It's getting better. Remove the middle perch and they only need 1 water bowl (save yourself some work there).

2 perches, 2 food dishes and 1 water dish.

You are almost there!

And I would exchange the dowel perches that came with the cage for natural branches that you cut from trees or shrubs in your yard. Not quite as thick as the dowels. It is so much better for their feet. Just check the plant list at the FIC so you don't use a poisonous branch.
