Here's another pic of redeyes. Shows the short tail wires. She is also in a flight cage with 2 other youngere hens and her 4 sibling brothers are in a flight cage next to hers. They are singing like they should and I have never seen redeyes make any sound as of yet.
If this turns out to be a male I would be totally amazed. But then again everyone thought the grandmother was a male, from the guy that sold her to me to the breeder that sold it to him. I even had my doubts when I put it in with my male Lilac breast... they did not get along. I seperated it her and then put a female normal color. The lilac would sing ane this bird would jump to the side of her cage and make that distinct hen call.... so I put her back in with him and voila.... They produced 7 chicks.
2 OH LB YM males
2 OH PB YB males
1 OH PB dilute male
2 BH PB YB females

I set the dilute male up with an OH normal that was thrown from a RH and BH pairing. My first OH ever.
So the parents to this red eyes and the 4 OH PB dilut males were OH PB dilute and OH PB NB

So do you think it is still a male?

The bird in the first three pictures you posted looks like a male to me, the colorful one. The picture you just posted looks like a female to me.

Same bird in all 3 pictures. Taken at the same time... the flash probably worked on the last one though I din't post this picture to start with because it made her look washed out. She really has the deeper colors of the first photos...not this washed out purple..... just like her Grandmother. Anyway, I am glad you guys concur that it is a hen...... Thought I was goofing up again :D

I still think the bird in the first 3 pictures looks like a male. But if it is a hen then she is a very very very colorful one! :) Her mask is rare and after looking at the breast again I would have said he was Lilac but see it is a PB on a hen.

She is gorgeous Candace - a real pretty conformation in the first three pictures too.

Misty,
LOL.... I think a lot has to do with my picture taking skills...and my lousy undrstanding of camera adjustments and lighting :?
I took a couple just a little while ago of miss redeyes..... The first one the flash went off... the second one it did not....
The other pic is some of my chicks in the moulting phases.... I keep pilling more cages in. She is in the bottom white cage on the left. Her brothers in the right botton cage in front of the window...they have a nice view. The 4th pic is the other window wall. The aviary with the free flying red heads (and on eggs and 1 hatchling today) are on the right in the 3rd picture.

You have a full house :) Lots of healthy babies and plenty of room with your awesome bird house. And, that female is beautiful

The camera is tricky with them in cages - I still can't get it right... LOL

Here is a picture of Yahto taken a few days ago

Misty, Beautiful boy. I love that coloration. I love the blues with the white breast, and I like the purple breasts with the Black heads, so striking!

Yahto is a very handsome bird :D Was it one of your hand fed? He looks great.
Now that I have gotten some blue I want straw heads. I like the blacks but the straw heads I think are beautiful.
