I am not certain... I just recieved it from a friend... but I heard the word 'punk' more than once (but it could be because of the hair sticking-up on his head...)

Can you post pictures? Or describe him/her? You might have some luck identifying the breed by looking at the pictures of different finch species
here.

A "punk" hairdo makes me thing of a crested society. But a photo would help us say for certain.

The pic is tiny and blurry, but the bird looks like a Society to me.
How do you know it is a male? Societies are difficult to sex visually.
